The Believe Tea Party

Historical researchers in rooms 306 and 308 shared their learning about events leading up the the American Revolution 'tea party' style.  What better way to teach and learn about the Boston Tea Party than while having a tea party of your own!  Each student selected an event that lead up to the American Revolution and researched that event through primary and secondary sources over the last few weeks.  On Friday, students taught and learned from one another about their subtopics.  In addition to showcasing their research and writing skills, students also focused on public speaking and active listening (and had some refreshments at our tea party!).

Students Teaching Students

Team Believe students have been leading "Number Talks" this week focusing on mental math strategies.  Students are doing a great job teaching and learning from each other.

Survive Alive - Grade 4

4th Graders in rooms 306 and 308 will be going to the Survive Alive House this afternoon.  They will not be leaving school until after lunch and will be returning to school around 2:30.

Family Math Night

Thank you to everyone who attended Family Math Night at Wilson.  It was great to see so many of our students showcasing their math learning.  Please consider attending Wilson's February Math Workshop (Parent Education Workshop) to participate in activities similar to those your child experiences in school during math instruction.  Please feel free to ask any of the Team Believe teachers any questions you may have about our math instruction.

Survive Alive - Grade 4

Thank you to everyone who has returned their permission slip for our Survive Alive trip.  There are still a few students who need to return their permission slip or they will not be able  to join us on the trip.  We are also looking for a few more chaperones to help us with this trip.  Please let me know if you are available to help on Friday, January 22 from 1:00-2:30.  Also, please help your child prepare for the trip by making sure that they know their home address.  Thank you for your support!

Reader's Workshop

Students have been launching research projects about the American Revolution.  Students are taking notes to record important information about a subtopic and explaining it.  They are using sentence starters to organize their thinking and come to new understandings.

I learned that......
An important detail to support this is....
This seems important because.....
This makes me think.....

Students will be using the information they learn from their research to write an infomational book.
