Math Brackets

To continue our day of March Madness students completed math brackets. We reviewed lots of math skills and learned from each other as we completed our brackets.

Math Madness

Today in math class the students created their own NCAA player.  They had to answer math questions and then use the key to add details to their player.

March Madness

After reading an article about March Madness and watching a short video, the Believe 2 players were ready to take to the court.  They moved around the room to answer 8 math quesitons using March Madness statistics.  There were many great math conversations and we worked on making sense of information and persevering (2 of our math messages this year!).

Believe 2 students played a game of Jam to review reading skills that we have learned so far this year.  We reviewed lots of material in a short amount of time and were able to move around the room while we "jammed."

Greek and Latin Roots

Today we talked about Greek and Latin roots.  Students used their detective skills to determine the meanings of words based on the meanings of the word parts.  Students made fortune tellers and worked with a partner to practice the definitions of different Greek and Latin roots.

Multiple Meaning Words

Multiple Meaning Words

Today the 4th graders completed an activity with words that have multiple meanings.  Our word sleuths worked like detectives and used the sentence context clues to determine the correct meaning of a given word in the sentence and then found another sentence using that word with the same meaning.

All School Read-In

Today we had a school wide Read-In.  We all enjoyed reading a good book together!

A Visit From "The Cat in the Hat"

Believe 2 had a special visitor today.  The Cat in the Hat (Mr. Sikich, West Allis-West Milwaukee School Board President) was a guest reader in our room today.  We enjoyed hearing "Green Eggs and Ham" and "The Cat in the Hat."

Read Across America Day and Math

In honor of the book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, we ate red fish today!  Students did the math to determine how many fish were in the sealed package and how many fish each student should get.
