Book Club Conversations

Friday's book club conversations were done a bit differently than our past conversations.  Previously, students who were reading the same book met to discuss their books.  However, this time groups were organized so that each group was made up of students who had each read different books.  The focus of the discussion for each group was book themes and text evidence to support those themes.  As groups were talking, students realized that many of their books shared common themes.  Groups did a great job following our student-created group norms.  

Historical Fiction Book Clubs

Students continue to read in their book clubs focusing on both the historical and character timelines and the themes that are developing.  Book clubs meet daily to discuss what they have read and set a new goal page.  Our next step will be for different clubs to meet together and compare and contrast themes across their different books.

Grade 5 Field Trip

Permission slips are being sent home today (Tuesday, May 10) for the 5th grade field trip on Monday, June 6.  Please sign and return the permission slip as soon as possible.  

Please note that this trip is for 5th graders only.

Six Flags Tickets

Tickets were distributed today (Monday, May 9) to those students who completed the required reading and submitted their signed forms.  Please check take home folders and backpacks for them. 

Forward Testing

Almost all of the 4th and 5th graders on Team Believe 2 have completed the state Forward Test.  We are just finishing up testing for a few students that were absent during testing times.  Thank you for your support and patience during this important time.  We are looking forward to getting back on our normal daily schedule.
