High Interest Day

Thank you to the many volunteers who helped to make High Interest Day a great success this year.  We all enjoyed learning from the presenters throughout the morning and had a great time at the afternoon assembly!

Panther Hunt

As part of Earth Day on Friday, Team Believe students completed a Panther Hunt activity. Students gained an understanding of carrying capacity as they acted as predatory animals in a finite area and attempted to accumulate enough food to stay alive.  Students used the skills of observing, understanding cause and effect, using metric weights, multiplying, and dividing as they calculated the carrying capacity of a determined area. 

Exploring with Fractions

Today the 4th grade math students in room 308 designed coffee tables using colored tiles.  After they came up with their design, the next step was to determine what fraction of each color was used in their design.  Students then had to calculate how much their table would cost based on the price for each color tile.  Each color cost a different amount. 

Forward Testing Schedule

With the end of the year quickly approaching, we are now getting closer to the beginning of Wisconsin's statewide exam, the Forward Exam.  By working together, we can make your child's test experience positive and successful.  Here are some suggestions that you can do to help your child succeed:
*Make sure your child gets a good night of rest
*Have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school
*Make sure your child arrives at school on time
*Offer encouragement along the way

Please take some time to review your child's testing schedule below.  It is extremely important that your child is present during his or her testing times.

Historical Fiction Book Clubs

Students continue to work in their historical fiction book clubs.  After a mini lesson on how club members talk to each other, students gathered in their clubs for a book talk.

SCAMPER

Today our team began the invention process.  After being introduced to the SCAMPER model (substitute, combine, adapt, modify, put to new use, eliminate, reverse), our inspiring inventors brainstormed a list of new and improved modifications to things we already use.
