More Theatrics
After another two hours of testing today, students put their acting skills to work with a drama activity about growth mindset. Students assembled in a circle to perform their scenarios. As each student finished acting out his or her card, the student with the next card in the sequence started acting out his or her card. Their confidence continues to grow each day!
Perimeter and Area
Students investigated perimeter and area today as we read the book Spaghetti and Meatballs for All. They discovered that when two different shapes have the same area they may not always have the same perimeter.

Brain Break
Room 302 took a much needed brain break after several hours of testing today. We revisited one of our favorite classroom theatrics activities. Basket Raffle
Hello families!
Each classroom is teaming up with Wilson PTA to participate in this year’s basket raffle at the End of Year Wilson Family Picnic on Friday, June 2nd! This event is always a fantastic way to close out another successful school year and celebrate with all of our Wilson families!
A big part of the picnic is the basket raffle that takes place in our gym. This year, each classroom has chosen a theme basket to include in the basket raffle. Our classroom’s theme is Family Game Night. We would like ALL families to either donate an item that would go along with our classroom’s theme, OR donate money for us to buy items to put towards the theme basket. Some ideas are family friendly card games, board games, puzzles, or snacks. We would also like to have 1 parent in the classroom volunteer to gather the items that we collect into a basket. This would help out the teachers and PTA significantly! Please let me know who is interested in helping! All classroom baskets should be turned into Wilson PTA by Wednesday 5/24/17.
To get families excited about putting together the basket, we are going to have some friendly competition between the classrooms. Everyone will get to vote on their favorite basket; even parents and siblings can get in on the voting! The classroom with the most votes will get a special treat in their classroom on Monday!
Any questions about the basket raffle can be sent to me at wilkp@wawmsd.org , or to Erin Sanderson at dnesanderson@yahoo.com. If emailing Erin, please include your child’s name and classroom in your message.
We need our families to join in support of our students and Wilson PTA to make the basket raffle a success! Thank you!!

Zoo Field Trip
Wednesday, May 24 is our whole school field trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo. Permission slips were sent home last week with students. I am still waiting for details on the number of chaperones that each classroom will be allowed. Therefore, I have not yet contacted any parents to chaperone. I will make those contacts as soon as I have that information.
All students will need a bag lunch on that day. You may either pack a bag lunch for your student or order a school bag lunch (at the regular price) for your student. A blue half sheet will be coming home today for your to indicate your choice for lunch. The lunch sheet must be returned by Thursday, May 18.
Please contact Mrs. Wilke if you have any questions.
