Math Mystery

Math detectives were hard at work today in room 302 to solve our current math mystery. They used their math skills to solve clues and eliminate possible suspects to solve the mystery. Today's math skills focused on place value, multiplying multi-digit numbers, converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, and solving for variables in equations.  Good work, math detectives!

Boston Tea Party Escape Room

Today, the students in room 302 were given a secret code name and sent on a secret mission to help the Sons of Liberty. Students worked with partners to break various codes. Each code required students to think differently to decipher or decode it. The codes included ciphers, Morse code, cryptograms and a final 4 digit code based on the clues. Each code revealed an interesting fact about the Boston Tea Party. Students practiced hands-on problem solving skills and teamwork while reviewing the Boston Tea Party.

We know ways to play because it helps us learn!

Wax Museum Invitation

All students should have brought home a paper copy of the following note last week:

Dear Team Believe Parents,

Please join us in our classrooms on Wednesday, March 28 th at 2:30 PM for our American

Revolution Wax Museum. During this event, students in Team Believe will showcase their

knowledge of the causes of the American Revolution through posters, written essays,

monologues, and so much more! Students have been researching and exploring important

historical figures from the American Revolution within the last few weeks to create a world that

goes back into the 1700’s. Please join us next Wednesday to support our students’ hard work!

Also, please keep in mind that any props or costumes created outside of school must be

brought to school no later than Tuesday.

Thank you,

Team Believe

Testing Update

Thank you to everyone for your support as we continue to take the Wisconsin Forward Exam.  Almost everyone in room 302 has completed the reading and writing portions of the test. We are working on math today and tomorrow.  The 4th graders will also have two science and two social studies tests to complete. Room 302 has not been getting homework this week so that students can get to bed earlier and be ready to test each morning.  Please contact Mrs. Wilke if you have any questions.

High Interest Day Slips

There are still several students who have not yet returned their High Interest Day selection/permission slip. Students will be placed in sessions next week based on the responses that have been returned. If your student has not returned their slip, they will be scheduled in sessions that have openings but will not be able to participate unless the permission slip is returned. Please make sure the slip is signed and returned to school this week.

American Revolution Writing

Room 302 writers continue to write All About the American Revolution books. They have completed their draft of chapter one, an overview of the American Revolution, and have started writing their draft of chapter 2, their focus topic. We will continue to work on focus topics this week and begin writing micro stories for chapter 3.
