Electoral Votes

Today students used their ability to compare numbers and express numbers in various forms to complete a project involving a real-world situation.  After an introductory lesson about the electoral college, students used data that was provided to them about two imaginary candidates.  They compared the vote totals each candidate received for each state, tallied how many electoral votes each candidate had, and then determined which of the unreported states the candidate would need to reach a total of 270 electoral votes.  We really needed to 'get our jungle tiger on' because this problem required lots of grit!
