I Am Unique

On the first day of school we read the book Peanut Butter and Cupcake.  We discussed strategies for making friends and the importance of making everyone feel included and welcome.  Students also made inferences about the character traits of the main character, Peanut Butter, and supported those inferences with evidence from the text.  Next, students thought about their own character traits and the evidence that supports those traits.  Now for the fun.  Students made posters highlighting their unique traits.  We talked about how we each have something special and unique to bring to our classroom this year and that together we make an awesome team!
