Writing Workshop

Today was our first official writing workshop mini-lesson.  We discussed and took notes about 'Strategies for Generating Personal Narrative Writing.'  Our first two strategies are to think about people who matter to you and to think about first times, last times, or important times.  Students turned and talked with each other about their ideas and recorded them in their writing notebooks.  Then, each student chose one of the ideas they had jotted in their notebook and wrote the story of that small moment.  We are looking forward to a year of 'growth spurts' in our writing!
