Reflecting On Our Writing
The writers in room 302 looked at their most recent writing entries and asked themselves, "Am I getting better as a writer?" Then, we discussed the research that shows that one of the best ways to improve at something is to set goals and work to reach them. We used a tool, a learning progression, to help measure our writing progress focusing on the organization of our writing. Students realized that using paragraphs purposefully will improve our writing. After a mini lesson about paragraphing, writers went back to the "workbench" with their new "tools" and revisited one of the narrative writing pieces focusing on their use of paragraphs.
