Word Study

As part of our word study this year, students will be learning common Greek and Latin roots. Almost 70% of the English language is derived from Greek and Latin languages. When students learn these "building blocks" it helps them recognize and decode unfamiliar words that are related to a known root.  Today, the word detectives in room 302 began working with the root "photo." We learned that photo means light (not picture!). We will continue our study next week.
